See every new playable Endless Ragnarok character, what each one brings to a party, and the sensible order for trying or unlocking the six-person roster.

Endless Ragnarok adds six playable characters: Beatrix, Eustace, Gallanza, Maglielle, Fraux, and Fediel. For a first recruit, take Eustace if you want a mobile ranged character or Beatrix if you already enjoy close-range decision-making. Then let progression unlock Gallanza, Maglielle, Fraux, and Fediel where possible instead of spending cards just to complete the roster quickly.

The PlayStation hands-on report confirms all six additions. This page helps you turn that list into a practical first choice; the Endless Ragnarok character hub has the fuller unlock-order guide.

The complete Endless Ragnarok roster

CharacterCombat identityBest first reason to try themAccess decision
BeatrixTechnical sword fighter who shifts between offense, defense, and recovery buffsYou like staying in melee and adapting your next actionOne Crewmate Card; a good immediate pick for committed melee players
EustaceAgile ranged gunner with lightning-charged shotsYou want to keep attacking while learning boss spacingOne Crewmate Card; the lower-pressure first experiment
GallanzaHeavy spear-axe frontline character with wide attacksYou prefer deliberate, durable close-range pressureEarn the special card through Chapter 0 Hard progression
MaglielleSword-and-magic fighter with healing supportYou want damage plus a more support-minded toolkitUnlocks with Gallanza through the same progression route
FrauxMartial-arts fighter with a stance systemYou enjoy manual input, close-range rhythm, and learning a deeper kitStory route or a two-card early shortcut
FedielMobile dark-element fighter with short- and long-range attacksYou want a flexible character who can change distance quicklyLate-story route or a two-card early shortcut

These are role and feel comparisons, not a universal power ranking. A player who dislikes a character's movement or timing will get less value from a supposedly strong roster pick than from a comfortable one they will actually take into repeat quests.

Which new character should you play first?

Pick Eustace for the safest fresh start

Eustace is the practical default when you have no strong preference. His mobile ranged play gives you more time to observe an unfamiliar Chaos encounter, move out of danger, and still contribute between openings. Choose him when your current problem is losing uptime because you cannot confidently stay near a boss.

The trade-off is simple: range is not automatically more fun. If your favorite Relink moments are close dodges, combo commitment, and reading the boss from inside its hitbox, go straight to Beatrix's character guide instead.

Pick Beatrix if you want an active melee main

Beatrix is the better choice for players who want their first new recruit to demand attention. PlayStation's hands-on impressions describe a fighter who cycles offensive, defensive, and recovery self-buffs, so she rewards situational choices rather than one fixed pattern. Start in a familiar quest: learn when to preserve your defensive option and when a damage window is genuinely safe before worrying about a perfect sequence.

Avoid choosing her solely because she sounds versatile. Her flexibility is valuable only if you enjoy managing it. Players who want a more spacious, mobile first test should use the Eustace character guide instead; players ready for close-range technical play can make Beatrix their next build-planning stop.

Let Gallanza and Maglielle arrive through progression

Gallanza and Maglielle are a pair worth waiting for. Reported unlock coverage says clearing the Hard quests in Chapter 0 triggers a scene that awards both special Crewmate Cards. That makes them progression rewards, not the cards you should rush to spend from your ordinary supply.

Choose Gallanza for broad, weighty attacks and a frontline presence. Choose Maglielle when swordplay plus spellcasting and healing support is closer to what your party needs. If you have already cleared the relevant Chapter 0 content, trigger a quest or return to Folca to see the missed scene. Test both before putting scarce growth materials into either one.

Wait on Fraux and Fediel unless you have a specific plan

Fraux and Fediel are the roster's biggest resource decision. Fraux is reported to join through the expansion story around its midpoint, while Fediel's story unlock comes near the end. Both can instead be recruited early for two Crewmate Cards each.

Use the shortcut only when it changes what you will do now: perhaps Fraux is the character you plan to main for the story, or Fediel fills the role your regular co-op group lacks. Otherwise, the story route is the better value. For focused follow-up, compare the Fraux overview with the Fediel overview before committing two cards.

A no-waste way to try the six characters

  1. Choose one immediate playstyle test. Take Eustace for mobile range or Beatrix for technical melee—not both before you have played one.
  2. Advance Chapter 0 Hard content. This is the reported free route to the Gallanza and Maglielle special cards.
  3. Play the Endless Ragnarok story before using two-card shortcuts. Fraux and Fediel have story access paths, so a shortcut buys time rather than a unique character.
  4. Run familiar quests with every recruit. Compare positioning comfort, how often your attacks are interrupted, and whether the skill cadence feels natural.
  5. Only then spend deeper resources. A character can be unlocked cheaply and still be a poor fit for your hands; build the one you return to after the novelty wears off.

This route answers the usual card question too. If you wait for the story and progression unlocks, reported unlock coverage says you need only two ordinary cards—one for Beatrix and one for Eustace. Recruiting every available character as early as possible takes six cards.

When a paid Fraux or Fediel set makes sense

Cygames also sells optional character expansion sets for Fraux and Fediel. Each set includes that character's Crewmate Card and starter items; the official DLC page lists a $2.99 / €2.99 MSRP and says the items are claimed from Sierokarte's Claim Add-Ons menu with an active internet connection.

Treat these as convenience purchases, not roster requirements. They make sense if you already know the character will be your main and value immediate access more than the story reveal. Skip them if you are only roster-curious, still choosing between styles, or happy to play the story first.

Common roster mistakes

Confusing a complete roster with a good first choice. Six new names do not create six urgent builds. Recruit or unlock one, play familiar content, then decide whether its feel earns more investment.

Spending ordinary cards on Gallanza or Maglielle. Check your Chapter 0 Hard progression and trigger the relevant scene first; their special-card route can save normal cards for a true early-access choice.

Buying Fraux or Fediel because a guide calls them strong. Two cards purchase earlier access, not mastery. Spend only when the character suits a current plan.

Ignoring a character's learning cost. Beatrix and Fraux will appeal to players who want more decisions. Eustace offers a more comfortable spacing test. Let that preference drive the choice before any broad tier-list opinion.
