Wait for Fediel's story unlock unless her mobile, dark-element combat is the reason you want to play now. Her official profile confirms that she is Fediel, one of the Six Dragons with dominion over darkness; it does not make her a mandatory early recruit. Current unlock guidance places her natural recruitment near the end of the Endless Ragnarok story, while the official alternative is two normal Crewmate Cards at Siero's. Save the cards if you are progressing normally; spend them if you want to learn Fediel for most of the expansion rather than only after it.

Cygames describes Fediel as "Darkness Personified" and lists Savy Des-Etages (English) and Asami Tano (Japanese) as her voices. For the player choosing a main, the practical distinction is her reported ability to move around the battlefield while mixing short- and long-range dark attacks. That makes her a better early purchase for someone who likes controlling distance and repositioning than for someone who only wants the cheapest way to expand the roster.
The two-card decision
The official Ver. 2.0.2 update gives you two routes: progress the Endless Ragnarok story for Fediel's special Crewmate Card, or exchange two normal cards for early recruitment. The story route is the efficient default, but unlike Fraux's midpoint reward, Fediel is reported to arrive close to the story's end. That delay is the one reason spending two cards can be sensible.
| Your situation | Best choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You are playing through the expansion story in order | Wait | You keep two cards for other recruits or future flexibility. |
| Fediel is the character you most want to learn before late-game quests | Recruit early | You get time to practise her movement, range changes, and combo finishers while progressing. |
| You have only two cards and still want Beatrix and Eustace | Do not spend both on Fediel yet | One card each gives you two immediate roster choices instead of one. |
| You are nearly at the end of the Endless Ragnarok story | Wait | The natural unlock is close enough that the card cost has little payoff. |
| You need a character to keep safer distance in unfamiliar fights | Test Fediel early if that playstyle appeals | Her reported short/long-range mix gives you a different positioning tool than a committed melee main. |
For the full card economy, use the new-character unlock guide. If you allow Fraux and Fediel to arrive through story progress, only Beatrix and Eustace require normal cards to complete the new roster. Do not spend two cards merely because they are in your inventory; spend them when early Fediel will change what you enjoy or can practise over the next several sessions.
Is Fediel the right early main for you?
Fediel is a fit for players who want to solve boss pressure with movement and deliberate range selection, not just with a fixed safe distance. Her published Master Trait names and effects point to a character whose damage loop rewards combo finishers, Miasma Hands, mobility tools such as Voidskip and Blackflash, and well-timed skills. That does not mean you need an endgame build on day one. It means you should enjoy a kit that asks you to convert a safe opening into a choice: finish a string, reposition, or spend a skill window.
| What you want from a character | Fediel fit | Consider this instead when it is not a fit |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile play with both close and longer attack options | Strong fit | - |
| A simple one-card melee experiment | Not the efficient first pick | Beatrix costs one card and is the cleaner melee test. |
| A dedicated ranged specialist right away | Possible, but test the mixed-range loop | Eustace is the more direct ranged comparison. |
| A technical close-range stance character | Different kind of complexity | Fraux is the better comparison if stances are what interest you. |
| A late-story character you will use mainly as an AI companion | Usually wait | The two-card value is highest when you personally want to learn the kit. |
This is deliberately not a tier verdict. A strong character can still be a poor early use of two Crewmate Cards if her movement and range decisions are not enjoyable to you. The Endless Ragnarok character hub is the better next stop if you have not yet narrowed down the kind of combat you want.
First three Fediel runs: establish a repeatable loop
Use a quest you already clear reliably. The goal is to learn Fediel's choices without confusing unfamiliar boss mechanics, new equipment, and new inputs all at once.
- Map one safe approach and exit. Start at the distance where you can read the target. Move in only after a familiar attack sequence, then use your preferred short-range option or a short string. Leave before the next unknown attack instead of extending for damage.
- Add one mobility decision. On the next run, reserve Voidskip or Blackflash for a single clear purpose: crossing an attack, reaching a safe angle, or returning to the target. Do not use both just because they are available. After the run, decide whether that movement gained a real opening or only put you back in danger.
- Cash out one clean finisher. Build to a combo finisher during the opening you identified, then stop and reset your position. The reported Insight path later rewards finishers and Miasma Hands, so recognising a safe cash-out point is more valuable than forcing a full sequence immediately.
Keep your party and loadout unchanged during these three runs. If you swap sigils, allies, and quest at the same time, you will not know whether a miss came from Fediel's timing or from a different fight condition.
Master Traits: pick a learning direction before chasing damage
At character level 100, Endless Ragnarok's Master Trait system opens Insight, Essence, and Crux styles. RPG Site's published list shows that Fediel's three routes support distinct play patterns. Treat the table as a starting direction, then confirm exact text in-game before investing for a difficult quest; the shaped style materials can be refunded, although Master Level itself cannot be lowered.
| Style | What the reported perks reward | Start here when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insight - Finishing Touch | Combo finishers, Miasma Hands, and extra magic orbs after a finisher | You enjoy a clear attack-string payoff and want a readable core loop | Forcing finishers when the boss is about to retaliate. |
| Essence - Corrosive Black | Longer support/debuff skill effects, Miasmic Abyss interaction, and cooldown help from movement tools | You want a field-control and skill-management direction | Treating the area effect as permission to stand in danger. |
| Crux - Hands of Malice | Damage skills, finisher-triggered skill damage, and Malice stacks from Miasma Hands | You already keep Miasma Hands connected and can sustain an opening | Losing Malice when the attack is interrupted, then trying to force the sequence again. |
Beginner-safe default: Insight. It gives you a concrete practice target: create an opening, land Miasma Hands when appropriate, then finish the string safely. Move to Essence if you find that the satisfaction of Fediel is controlling space and cycling skills, not extending basic strings. Crux is the later, test-first path: it gains more from an uninterrupted Miasma Hands sequence, so it is least forgiving when you are still learning boss timings.
Mistakes that make Fediel's early unlock feel bad
Buying her to complete the roster, then never controlling her. Two cards purchase practice time, not a mandatory party slot. Wait if you mostly want the collection checkmark.
Playing her as either permanently ranged or permanently melee. Her appeal is the ability to choose distance. Begin each encounter at a readable range, then move for a defined opening rather than drifting into close range by habit.
Turning every movement tool into an attack button. Mobility has value when it changes your position or avoids a hit. Use one tool with a purpose, learn the result, then add the next layer.
Choosing Crux before you can keep Miasma Hands active safely. The route's payoff is tied to connections that disappear on interruption. A calmer Insight or Essence test tells you more about the kit before you accept that pressure.
Your next step
If you are early in the story and curious about Fediel's mixed-range movement, spend two cards only if you will run the three familiar-quest tests above. Otherwise, keep progressing and claim her special card near the story's end. Once she joins, choose Insight for a first controlled loop, then compare it with Essence only after you can reliably identify a safe opening.
