Endless Ragnarok Maglielle Guide: Unlock, Gameplay & Build Priorities

Learn how to unlock Maglielle in Endless Ragnarok, recover a missing Crewmate Card, understand her magic-sword playstyle, and build her without wasting early resources.

Maglielle is one of the six playable characters added with Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok, and you do not need to spend a normal Crewmate Card to recruit her. Her intended unlock comes from Chapter Ø progression: clear the required Hard-difficulty quests until the special New Allies scene plays, then use the unique Maglielle card at Sierokarte's Knickknack Shack. If you already watched that scene but never received the card, update the game and travel to Folca or Seedhollow—the Ver. 2.0.3 patch added a recovery method for affected saves.

Maglielle is a particularly good character to try if you like controlling space rather than standing on top of a boss for an entire fight. Cygames calls her the Alluring Swordmaster and describes her as a highly skilled user of magic blades. That identity carries into the way you should approach her: establish pressure, understand where her blades are working, and use safe attack windows instead of treating her like a conventional button-mashing sword character.

The official character video is also worth watching before spending upgrade materials because it gives a much faster impression of her animation rhythm and effective range than a static tier list.

How to unlock Maglielle

Maglielle shares an unlock route with Gallanza. According to Cygames' Ver. 2.0.2 notes, both characters require special Crewmate Cards. You obtain them by progressing through the Hard-difficulty quests added during Chapter Ø until a specific scene is triggered.

That means the normal route is:

  1. Reach Chapter Ø in the base Relink progression.
  2. Continue through the relevant Hard-difficulty quests.
  3. Trigger the New Allies scene.
  4. Receive the unique Crewmate Cards for Maglielle and Gallanza.
  5. Visit Sierokarte and trade Maglielle's card to recruit her.

The important resource-saving point is that this route does not compete with the ordinary cards you may want to use for Beatrix, Eustace, or an early Fraux/Fediel shortcut. If your goal is simply to fill out the Endless Ragnarok roster, progress the game before spending anything unnecessarily.

Missing the Maglielle Crewmate Card?

There was a real launch-period problem here, so old forum answers can be confusing. Ver. 2.0.3 fixed a rare bug that prevented some players from obtaining the Gallanza and Maglielle cards. Cygames added a specific recovery method: if you have watched New Allies, have not unlocked Maglielle, and the card is missing, travel to Folca or Seedhollow after installing the newer update.

Do this before assuming your save is permanently broken. It is also a good reason to avoid following launch-week workarounds that tell you to repeat unrelated quests indefinitely—the official patch now handles the known missing-card case.

What Maglielle's playstyle is trying to teach you

Maglielle is best understood as a sword-and-magic space-control character. Her appeal is not merely that she can attack from farther away than a conventional melee fighter. The useful distinction is that her magic blades let you think about where pressure is being applied while Maglielle herself is repositioning.

That makes her attractive in fights where staying glued to the boss is uncomfortable. Instead of measuring success only by how long you remain in melee range, judge your first sessions by three questions:

  • Are your blades contributing while you move to safety?
  • Are you wasting attacks because the boss moved away from the area you committed to?
  • Are you surviving long enough to learn the encounter without abandoning offense completely?

The second question matters most. A ranged-looking toolkit can still lose a lot of damage when attacks are committed into empty space. Learn the boss first, then place your pressure where the boss is going to remain—not simply where it was when you pressed the button.

Cygames also changed an enemy-facing interaction in Ver. 2.0.2 so that Maglielle's magic swords display their own HP bars when thrust into the ground. That is a useful visual clue for learning her battlefield objects and understanding when they are still active.

A practical first-hour training plan

Do not take a freshly unlocked Maglielle directly into your hardest Chaos encounter and decide whether she is good from one failed run. Use a controlled test instead.

Start with a quest you already know. The purpose of the first clear is not a damage record; it is to learn the distance at which her actions still connect reliably. Spend a few minutes deliberately moving between close, middle, and safer ranges. Watch what happens to the magic blades when the enemy changes position.

On the second clear, pay attention to downtime. Every time you stop attacking, ask why. If you were forced to dodge, that may be correct. If you stopped because your attacks were placed badly, change the timing or angle rather than adding more raw Attack to the build.

On the third clear, begin testing skills and cooldown support. Only now is it useful to ask whether more cooldown reduction or faster skill cycling actually produces additional safe damage windows. A build stat has value when it changes what you can execute, not merely because a guide labels it optimal.

This three-run process is slower than copying a screenshot, but it prevents a common Relink mistake: investing heavily in a theoretical endgame setup before learning why the character loses uptime in your hands.

Maglielle build priorities

There is no single permanent Maglielle build that should be copied into every Chaos, Conflux, and farming situation. Use priorities instead.

1. Reach your relevant damage caps before stacking empty Attack

Relink rewards understanding damage caps. If an attack is already hitting its effective ceiling, another generic Attack increase can produce less value than expected. Test representative attacks against Sir Barrold or another repeatable target and compare actual numbers before committing multiple offensive slots.

For Maglielle, this is especially important because her damage comes through more than one type of action. Do not test one convenient hit and assume every part of her kit is capped identically.

2. Protect uptime before chasing a paper maximum

If you are learning Chaos encounters, a defensive slot can outperform a theoretical damage increase simply because it keeps you alive and attacking. Guts, Autorevive, survivability, or comfort utility can be temporary training tools. Remove them when your execution makes them unnecessary; do not remove them because a spreadsheet assumes perfect play.

3. Treat cooldown and skill-frequency effects as rotation tools

Cooldown support is valuable only when the extra availability creates another useful cast. If a skill comes off cooldown while the boss is untargetable, moving, or forcing defense, the stat has not automatically created meaningful DPS.

Record a few real quest cycles. If you repeatedly reach a safe opening with the important skill unavailable by a small margin, cooldown investment has a clear purpose. If the skill is already ready whenever you need it, spend that slot elsewhere.

4. Check Maglielle-specific progression before generic filler

Ver. 2.0.2 lists Maglielle Anamnesis and Bladecaller's Gambit among her character-specific progression items. When you reach the point where these resources matter, compare the unique effect against the generic sigil you would replace rather than assuming a character-named item is automatically mandatory.

Endless Ragnarok also adds Master Traits for level-100 characters after reaching Fatebreaker progression. Treat those as a later optimization layer. First establish a functional Maglielle build and a repeatable quest clear; then spend scarce progression resources fixing a measured weakness.

Maglielle in Conflux versus regular quests

Conflux can make build evaluation misleading because its run-specific traits and boons alter how a character feels. A Maglielle setup that becomes spectacular after a lucky combination inside Conflux is not automatically your best regular-quest build.

Use Conflux for two things: learning how her toolkit responds to unusual bonuses and collecting progression resources. Use repeatable normal or Chaos quests when comparing permanent sigils, Master Traits, and execution changes.

When a Conflux run goes badly, resist rebuilding the permanent character immediately. First identify whether the failure came from temporary choices, the encounter, or your base setup. Keeping those layers separate makes progression much easier to reason about.

Maglielle or Gallanza first?

Because the two characters arrive from the same progression event, the real question is not which one deserves the unlock card—you can obtain both special cards—but which one deserves your first serious investment.

Choose Maglielle when you prefer flexible spacing, magic-blade pressure, and a less conventional swordfighter. Choose Gallanza when you want heavier frontline commitment, broad attacks, and a more deliberate physical presence.

Play both in the same familiar quest before choosing where your rare materials go. Their shared unlock route makes this one of the easiest comparisons in the new roster: there is no reason to decide from a tier list before touching both characters.

Common Maglielle mistakes

Spending ordinary cards because you cannot find her unlock. Her intended card is a special progression reward. If you watched New Allies but the card disappeared, use the official Ver. 2.0.3 recovery route.

Judging her from maximum range only. Flexible spacing does not mean every attack should be launched from as far away as possible. Learn the range where your full toolkit remains reliable.

Building around Conflux luck. Temporary traits can exaggerate strengths or hide weaknesses. Validate permanent changes outside the mode.

Stacking offensive stats without testing caps. More listed Attack is not automatically more real damage. Test the actions you actually use.

Copying a build without copying its assumptions. A setup designed for a practiced player, coordinated party, or one specific boss may feel terrible while learning another encounter. Build for the content you are actually clearing.

What to do after unlocking her

Take Maglielle through three familiar quests, establish your comfortable range, and identify one concrete limitation before spending deeply. If the problem is survival, solve survival. If it is skill availability, test cooldown support. If it is capped damage, change the appropriate offensive layer instead of adding blind Attack.

Then move into the expansion systems that actually reward a stable character: Fatebreaker progression, Master Traits, Chaos quests, and deeper Conflux cycles. The Endless Ragnarok systems guide explains those layers, while the character hub helps compare Maglielle with the other five additions. If you want the closest unlock-route comparison, continue with the Gallanza guide.
