Endless Ragnarok Weapon Transcendence Guide: Eligible Weapons & Upgrade Priority

Weapon Transcendence lets fully upgraded Endless Ragnarok weapons progress further. Learn which weapons qualify, how it differs from Terminus forging, and what to upgrade first.

Weapon Transcendence is the post-upgrade weapon progression system added with Endless Ragnarok. Once a qualifying weapon is fully upgraded through its normal Relink progression, Transcendence lets you improve it further. Cygames' key rule is broad: all fully upgraded weapons except bonus weapons can be transcended.

The main source of confusion is Terminus weapons. Transcendence is not the same thing as forging a Terminus weapon, and Ultimate Memory is not a universal Transcendence currency. Keeping those systems separate prevents a lot of wasted farming.

Which weapons can be transcended?

The official Ver. 2.0.2 rule is simple:

  • the weapon must already be fully upgraded;
  • bonus weapons are excluded;
  • the system is not limited to Terminus weapons.

So a normal fully developed weapon can be eligible even if you have not yet moved that character onto a Terminus option.

Weapon situationCan you plan around Transcendence?
Fully upgraded normal weaponYes
Fully upgraded Terminus weaponYes
Bonus weaponNo
Weapon still in normal upgrade progressionNot yet

Eligibility does not automatically make a weapon a good investment. The real question is whether that weapon is likely to remain part of a character you actually use.

Transcendence vs Terminus forging

These systems sit near each other in the endgame but solve different problems.

Terminus forging gives you access to a Terminus weapon. Ver. 2.0.2 introduced Ultimate Memory as a blacksmith forging resource for Terminus weapons and lists The Final Report and The Tale of Bahamut's Rage as sources.

Weapon Transcendence takes an already fully upgraded eligible weapon and pushes it beyond the old enhancement ceiling.

A useful mental model is:

Forging = obtain/create the weapon. Transcendence = keep developing a weapon that is already fully upgraded.

That is why describing Ultimate Memory as "the Transcendence material" is misleading. Check the blacksmith's requirement screen for the exact weapon and stage you are upgrading.

Should you wait for a Terminus weapon?

Sometimes, but not automatically.

If you are very close to forging the Terminus weapon you intend to use long-term, delaying a large investment into a temporary weapon can be efficient.

If your current fully upgraded weapon is already carrying your main character and you need more power to clear Chaos progression, refusing every upgrade until the ideal Terminus weapon arrives can slow you down unnecessarily.

Use three questions:

  1. How long will I realistically keep this weapon equipped?
  2. Is the current weapon actually blocking the next content tier?
  3. How close am I to the replacement I intend to use?

Transcendence is a progression decision, not a rule that says every eligible weapon must be maxed.

What should you transcend first?

For most players, prioritize weapons that support content you are actively clearing.

A sensible order is:

  1. Your main controlled character's long-term weapon. This has the clearest immediate payoff.
  2. A core party member whose weapon meaningfully improves clear consistency.
  3. A specialist you repeatedly bring to difficult Chaos fights.
  4. Experimental and alternate-build weapons after your main progression is stable.

Avoid spreading rare materials across a large roster just because every weapon has a new upgrade icon. One finished investment on a character you use every day usually teaches you more than ten partially developed experiments.

Where the Conflux fits

The Conflux supplies several Endless Ragnarok materials connected to advanced character and weapon development. Ver. 2.0.2 also ties materials such as Chaos Refinium and Mythic Artifact to specific new weapon/Terminus-related progression in later cycles.

The important caution is that those items should not be collapsed into a fictional universal Transcendence recipe. Different weapons and stages can have different blacksmith requirements.

Use the Conflux guide to plan cycle progression, then use the blacksmith requirement screen as the final authority for the weapon you are upgrading.

How Transcendence fits with Master Traits

Weapon progression is only one part of Endless Ragnarok's new endgame. A character can also demand MSP, Master Traits, sigils, and other resources.

If you are dying before reaching a boss's real damage window, another weapon step may not solve the problem. If you are executing cleanly but repeatedly failing a damage check, weapon progression becomes much more attractive.

This is why resource priority should follow the failure state:

  • dying to mechanics: fix survivability and execution first;
  • missing attacks because the boss moves: fix uptime/positioning first;
  • stable clear but damage check fails: prioritize offensive progression, including the weapon;
  • uncertain whether you even like the character: use Backup Characters before deep investment when possible.

For the separate character progression layer, see the Master Traits guide.

Common mistakes

Treating Transcendence as an early-game shortcut

It is not. The weapon must complete its ordinary upgrade path first.

Assuming only Terminus weapons qualify

Cygames explicitly says all weapons except bonus weapons can be transcended once fully upgraded.

Treating Ultimate Memory as a generic Transcendence currency

Officially, Ultimate Memory is documented for Terminus forging. Do not invent a universal recipe from the fact that both systems are late-game weapon progression.

Transcending a weapon you are about to replace

Eligibility is not investment advice. Check how close your planned replacement is before committing heavily.

Copying another character's upgrade priority

Weapon value depends on the character, your actual build, Master Traits, damage-cap situation, and the content being cleared. A good first investment for one character may be low priority for another.

FAQ

Can non-Terminus weapons be transcended?

Yes. The official rule is not Terminus-exclusive.

Can Terminus weapons be transcended?

Yes, once fully upgraded. They are not the excluded bonus-weapon category.

Can bonus weapons be transcended?

No. Bonus weapons are the explicit exception in Ver. 2.0.2.

What is Ultimate Memory for?

It is a treasure used at the blacksmith to forge Terminus weapons. Cygames lists The Final Report and The Tale of Bahamut's Rage as sources.

Where should I farm Transcendence materials?

Check the blacksmith requirement screen for the specific weapon and step. The Conflux is an important source of advanced weapon materials, but not every new material is a universal Transcendence cost.

Bottom line

Weapon Transcendence raises the ceiling on fully upgraded weapons, with bonus weapons as the exception. It is a general late-game system, not a Terminus-only mechanic.

Keep Terminus forging separate: Ultimate Memory helps create Terminus weapons; Transcendence develops an already fully upgraded weapon further. Start with the long-term weapon on a character you actually use, verify the exact blacksmith requirements, and expand into secondary weapons only after your core Chaos and Conflux progression is stable.
